Saineetha, Chennai

Support in Crucial Times

Saineetha, 10, studies in Grade 6 at C.S.I. Ewart Higher Secondary School, a private school in Chennai. Her older brother studies in Grade 10. A few months ago, Saineetha’s dad and the sole breadwinner of the family, left them never to return. Following this, the girl’s mother became depressed and even contemplated suicide. Saineetha’s brother found out their mother was planning to poison herself and called his grandmother for help. Fortunately, the mother started to take counselling sessions and is doing better now. Since she's educated she plans to take up a job to support her family in the future. Meanwhile, she approached Hope Unlimited via another NGO with a request for financial support to pay the school fee of Saineetha. Hope Unlimited has paid the term fee so Saineetha stays in school.
